Solventborne wood dye for use on hard and softwoods. This dye exhibits excellent lightfastness, grain definition and depth of colour.
Suitable for use on bare wood and over grain/pore filled wood, it can be easily applied using a sponge, brush, cloth, dip or spray. Additional coats give extra depth and strength of colour.
Dyes can be mised together to create custom colours. To reduce the intensity of a particular dye and allow for more subtle, gradual building up of the colour it should be thinned with Alcohol Thinners.
Dyes can be layered to create sunburst effects.
If using under oil allow the dye to dry for 24 hours, and ensure the first coats of oil are light so as not to redissolve the dye. This spirit dye can be mixed up to 10% with Nitrocellulose and Pre-Cat lacquers - reduce the amount of thinner used accordingly.
Approximate coverage is 8 sq. m per litre of dye dependent on the surface quality, size and orientation of the item being coated. Colour may vary from the swatch(es) shown due to variations in computer displays and specific application. Always apply to a same-species offcut or to an inconspicuous area before use. Always complete a project using the same package of dye to avoid issues with batch variability.

I used the spirit wood dye on a old wood floor, I'm happy with the transformation, the floor looks great. Also the dye is easy to apply the more coats you build up the deaper the colour becomes & shows the beauty of the grain.
A Happy customer that highly recommends the product!

These dyes are very high quality. I refinished a Les paul from cherry sunburst to vintage relic brown burst. Very easy to use, and super strong colours. Also matched in the cherry back where a headstock repair was done. Brilliant

I used the Amber stain on a flamed maple top. It coats well and even, no problem. Sand right back again to bare timber after 24Hrs, Stain again... leave a couple of hours and repeat. Now watch that flame pop out!!
The Amber is excellent - the Cherry Stain is not quite as dark as I think it should be though. However highly recommended!!!
worked for me

I've used R&K spirit stains on 3 guitar projects and have been very pleased with the results. The pigment goes on easily and I haven't found it to be fussy about the grade to which the surface has been sanded, unlike some oil-borne stains. I've used combinations of colours on each project (Dark Oak/Gold/Amber, black/Red and Amber/Gold), applying them one at a time so I can adjust where the final colour will end up. It goes on evenly with a rag, dries quickly and a 250ml bottle will do several guitars. I finished the first guitar with Tung Oil & Carnuba Wax and it looks great. The next two were finished with R&K water-borne lacquer, which gives a similar satin finish to the oil/wax, but far more quickly. Great products.
